I have a passion for good design and relish finding creative solutions to problems. My career in the design field has allowed me to explore design through various disciplines—from graphic design to 3D modeling, web design to television commercials, and more. Each presents its own set of challenges and informs my design perspective: obtaining clear, simple, and effective communication through thoughtful and creative solutions.
While I certainly have my own design aesthetic, I enjoy looking at challenges from new perspectives. I frequently ask myself, "Is there a better way? What might be a more creative, fun, or efficient way of doing this project?"
Design plays a role in every aspect of my life. Aside from graphic design, I am also exploring the art of fine woodworking/furniture making, and as any woodworker will tell you, it pays to look at challenges from many different angles. One of my favorite challenges each year is designing sets for a summer children’s program. It is rewarding to work with a team of dedicated volunteers to plan and execute a complicated prop or stage set, and I love seeing the children’s faces light up when they see the finished set for the first time. This is what good design does; it joins function and beauty in a seemingly effortless way and clearly communicates its intentions.
